These digital libraries from the Hán-Nôm collections of the National Library of Vietnam and Thắng Nghiêm Buddhist Temple (Chùa Thắng Nghiêm 勝 嚴寺) were created by the Vietnamese Nôm Preservation Foundation. Our work was funded through grants from the Chino Cienega Foundation (U.S.A.), the International Music and Art Foundation (Liechtenstein), the North Carolina State University Libraries, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at NC State University, and the U.S. Embassy (Hanoi), as well as from donations from individuals worldwide. The Vietnamese Nôm Preservation Foundation is a U.S.-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded by volunteers in 1999 to preserve and create digital access to Vietnam’s ancient cultural heritage written in the old writing system called chữ Nôm.
